The Silver Lining!!

Of all the seasons rainy season is my favorite!! While to some, it might be the least favorite due to clogged roads and drains.. but for me.. the petrichor brings a respite to my mind as it does to the heated surroundings. While Mumbai received it's first rains a day or two prior.. some parts of Thane were yet to receive the boon of IndraDev and I happened to be residing in one of these.. As I waited again today for the darkened clouds to hover over my building.. to pour down it's pearls.. I came back from office and decided to go for a walk!! A list of groceries on a piece of paper.. was what my mother handed me over along with a plastic bag.. I sighed but there's no running away from chores.. ain't it.. 😄 She informed, "In case it rains put your mobile phone in this bag".. I nodded hoping for her words to come true.. I started walking and the winds started to blow crazy.. the weather department had already issued a cyclone alert of Biparjoy.. but there was something different in the air.. my sharp senses picked up the scent and the cold mist the air carried with it.. I started walking listening to the 90's hindi pop songs playlist. I scrolled through the song sequence and guess which song was in queue?"Ab ke saawan aise barse" from Shubha Mudgal.. 2 kms into walking.. I purchased the groceries Mum mentioned in the list, the winds continued to blow.. but no luck.. and suddenly I saw the clouds move by the grey dark sky.. only the clouds were more darker!! I swear.. it was like a Lagaan movie scene for me.. where they awaited the rains!! And it started pouring heavily.. My overjoyed soul couldn't be more happier!! I quickly put my mobile and wireless headphones in the plastic groceries bag and tied a knot to it so that the water doesn't seep through..and thanked my mother for it.. Mothers always have natural instincts!! 😁 Well I looked up the sky and let the rain drops fall over my face.. A sense of freedom was what I felt standing below the pouring rain!! Somehow it felt as if the rain laid off some burden from over my shoulders (or my mind). As the drops slid through my palms.. it asked me to let go of the things which were not and will never be in my hands.. Now it started to rain cats and dogs and I was very far from the bus stop.. I looked at the plastic bag and realized it couldn't sustain the weight of my phone and the groceries any longer so, I stood below a tree!! Thankfully there was no thundering or lightning! As I waited patiently under the small tree which by the way couldn't provide much protection from the rain.. a couple riding a scooty came near me, parked the vehicle aside and quickly stood besides me to get some roof.. They looked at each other and giggled.. I realized I might be a third wheel here in their romantic moment.. So I took leave from under the tree.. It reminded me of my fiancé and I wished if he were there walking besides me.. but in reality he wasn't there and that was something I had to accept.. sometimes in the best or worst times, the closest people might not be around even if they wished to.. but I as an individual need to enjoy the best moments and face the worst moments headed my way.. to have a companion is great but to enjoy one's own company should also be something one must appreciate.. As I left the couple, I heard the bus approaching from behind.. I signaled the driver to stop the bus but he didn't stop and drove the bus right across my face.. I sighed in disappointment!! To hope.. might be the best thing to do in a bad situation but sometimes hope can just show you a silver lining like a beacon, that what you wish for is just around the corner, but we have to keep walking and not stop thinking hope will bring that towards us. I started walking again towards my destination dripping in the happiness I asked for. Well if I had to walk anyways why not enjoy it.. so i walked and walked till i reached a point where it hadn't rained at all. People were dry as a bone. The raindrops had not touched them yet. And i was walking amongst them like a rain drop on a lotus leaf. People looked at me as if I was mad person who might have jumped in a lake just for fun. Anyways I enjoyed their look of astonishment as well. For me the rains had taught me enough in the very first session. While I walked towards my home and saw up.. I saw darker clouds approaching.. with a hint of silver lining!!
