Walking fast.. dodging people on the crowded bridge.. I was following a kind friend, who was guiding me towards a bus stop nearest to the station! Shifting places ain't an easy job.. Adapting to a new place..new surroundings.. new people..uff that seems similar to climbing a mountain to me.. A trench coat over anarkali made me look like Sridevi of English Vinglish movie.. Only if I had a cup of coffee with me..hehe.. Anyways..from a distance, I saw my last bus home waiting at the bus stop.. I ran towards it.. and waved my friend a good bye.. Since I was not familiar with daily travelling through that bus, I confirmed with a fellow passenger that the bus was heading towards my destination.. I sat at the very first seat that was empty.. In few mins, the bus was crowded since it was the last one.. I was looking out of the window when I heard the sound of something dashing the footsteps..I looked at the door and saw an old man somewhere in his late 70s or early 80s trying to climb the steps.. the sound I heard was of his walking stick banging on the footsteps as he was trying to climb up... He looked at me and I quickly showed him one vacant seat which belonged to the conductor.. The old man was overjoyed and smiled as in Thanking God for saving him a seat.. I saw him seated and then looked out of the window.. Moments later the conductor arrived and saw the old man seating in his seat..

The conductor was a man of approximately my age.. I looked at him and became nervous whether he will say something to the old man.. or will ask him to get up... But to my surprise the young conductor asked the old man to remain seated and he himself sat in a very confined space that too without any back support.. For a person who was on the first seat, I was able to see the young conductor adjusting himself throughout the 45 mins of the journey.. I felt proud of him.. somewhere in my heart I wanted to give him a compliment for behaving like a true gentleman.. I was thankful to him for teaching me that sometimes life can make you seat in a very jolly and comforting situation and sometimes you might get a bumpy ride and a rocky seat.. in both the situations.. we have to stay composed.. As people de-boarded the bus, one stop after the other, it was time for the old man to get down at his stop.. This gentleman held the old man's wrist firmly to give him support and the old man smiled at him...thanking in return.. To my surprise the old man looked at me and smiled too as in conveying the message.. "Hope you have learned a lesson.. child!!" I smiled back at him...I kept looking at him.. till he safely got down the bus... Adding to the blissful surprise.. the old man looked back at me and waved me a loving good bye with a beautiful smile... I mean I didn't know who he was... he didn't know who I was.. and yet here we are.. surprisingly connected by something... I waved him a loving good bye as well.. like a small kid who waves goodbye to its parents while going to school... I felt beautiful within.. This unknown place.. these unknown people.. suddenly started feeling familiar to me..as If I am a part of them... The last stop arrived and as I was about to get down.. I said a warm Thankyou to the TEACHER disguised as the CONDUCTOR!!
