The skies were bright and blue!! The grass was green.. The sun shone like a diamond and the birds chirped merrily.. welcoming the arrival of the newly born!! Everyone danced in joy.. except for the mother!! She was in excruciating labor pain.. Like rain her sweat was dripping of her body... Whining about the moment that could possibly also be her last.. she grabs the bed in a manner as if crushing a brick with bare hands.. Her eyes are wide and teary at the same time. Gathering all the strength of the cosmos in her fragile body.. she tries to push the living entity out of her.. the entity who had been within her since 9 stressful months.. An entity for which her body expanded like a balloon.. for which her bones squeezed together to make more space.. for which her spine had to be in a constant compromising position.. for which her skinny legs had to bear the brunt of it's weight.. for which her luscious locks turned into a broom.. for which she had to avoid her favorite food.. for which even a fragrance could make her sick and her stomach upset...and the list was endless.. yet here she was trying with all her might to bring this miracle out in the world.. A long deafening cry and she went unconscious.. When she regained her senses a little while.. she saw this tiniest part of herself looking back at her with tiny eyes.. The mother smiled and the miracle smiled back at her.. " 'Durga'!! your name will be 'Durga' and the world will worship you.." said the mother holding the child close to her heart.. crying as if she knew the world she lived in was far from what she had imagined... This is a series narrating the life of Durga and her 9 Days in Kalyug where she turns into one of her many forms.. living a life among the people of Mrutyulok!!
